A little background…

When I stared AV Collective, I’d already been in the industry for 15 years. At 18 I started as an art apprentice at a marketing agency. Even before that I grew up in the agency world, literally. When I was in first grade my dad started designing Happy Meal Toys for McDonald’s. The drawing talent did not get passed down to me, but I did have an attention to detail and had taught myself photography and video. So when I needed a job after high school, I entered the ad world.

Since then I’ve worked agency side and brand side. Collaborating on projects for clients like McDonald’s and Coca-Cola. I toured the world with a band and took photos in almost every state, and 15 countries. After settling back into the real world, the digital out of home agency I was running a creative team at folded. I was left with a decision to make.

Hanging up a shingle…

The decision in front of me was do I go back into the agency world or break out on my own. I chose to create a company where I can steer the ship and create great content I’m proud of. We have a core group but then can expand as projects need. And I could finally be the resource I had always wanted to be internally but without all the politics and timesheets.

I fashioned AV Collective around being like an internal division of your company without the overhead. If you’re a small business, you don’t have the capital to spend on a video producer, camera gear, computers, etc. It’s just too much. But you still need video for your company to be successful. And if you’re a part of a larger company, you don’t want to have to do things on a schedule. You want to be able to pick up the phone and get the job done. And you want to know that the person on the other end of the line is using the latest and greatest when it comes to cameras, computers, and software.

We offer that. You have a project, we get it done. 24-7. There’s no hoping other divisions of your company have time to put towards your project. We always have the time. And we’re not waiting around to upgrade gear and stuff. If something new comers out we think would benefit our client’s projects, we sell the old stuff and get the new stuff.

What we offer…

AV Collective is a turn key solution for photo and video needs. If you have an internal team and just need someone to execute your project, we do that. If you have a one sentence idea and need someone to take that and create a script, shot list, film it, edit it, post it, we do that too. We have the flexibility to scale up or down with your project and deliver exactly what you need without you having to pay all the overhead of bigger shops.

The Results…

So none of the stuff above matters if we’re not successful. And we’ve been very successful. Clients have seen engagement internally and externally increase with the content we’ve produced. Just this past year, the top 5 pieces of content we’ve created for clients have been viewed 4,000,000 times and received nearly a million likes across their social media channels. Not bad for a small shop outside of Chicago.
