Help me tell the TPG story…

The story.

You know the story, you lived it.  But you, and I, know there’s more to this.  I want to take a unique approach to telling the Timepiece Gentleman story by talking to people in his orbit and finding out what really happened, contrasted with Anthony’s own words from the hours of youtube videos he’s posted.  This is a story about people building something and one bad actor taking it all down.  I think, fundamentally, this is a people story not a flashy assets / stolen money story.  Too many articles just focus on the numbers or Reddit while ignoring what was built, and how it was built, before it all crumbled down.  Obviously, you know you’re a key to any coverage of TPG being successful.  I’d love it if you’d chat with me about it.

Why am I a good fit to tell the story?

I’m sure a number of people have reached out, I think I’m in a unique place to tell this story. First, I’ve followed TPG since the beginning. Way back in 2021 I had reached out to Anthony and talked to you when you guys were looking to add an editor. I’m not some Reddit troll looking to get everyone. Secondly, I’ve been through some of what you’ve gone through. I worked for a company where we all suspected things weren’t totally on the up and up and it eventually failed. Then we all learned we had spent $125,000,000 of an investor’s money in 5 years with no real plan to become a profitable company. I know what it’s like to think things were a little weird, but not really be in the mix of people in the know, just to have people afterwards be like “how couldn’t you have known?” And I’ve been a part of a different company that burned to the ground in a public fashion, through the fault of one bad actor.  Have you seen the McMillions documentary on HBO?  I worked at Simon Marketing, the company that the guy who stole all the McDonald’s Monopoly game pieces worked for.  I did nothing wrong but you get that guilty by association feeling when shit hits the fan.

On top of all that, I’m an accomplished videographer and storyteller. I’ve been creating content for Fortune 500 (and 100) brands for a very long time. I know what it takes to tell a great story and this one has it all built in to be told.

Why talk to me versus someone else?

I’m sure you’ve had a lot of people coming to you and wanting to tell your story.  They all want something from you.  They want to get the sound bites and be on their way.  I want to work with you.  You were there, you captured it all from start to finish.  My hope would be that we could figure out a way to collaborate on this.  Whether you’re a producer or it’s a different way, I think it’s important that you be a part of telling this story.

Also, I know I said it before but, I don’t have some hidden agenda to trap you in a questions that make you look guilty. The people on Reddit are insane and I don’t really understand where the hatred comes from for people like you that got scammed as well. I heard McG’s Wonderland is doing a doc and locked up Anthony for exclusive interviews. The thing that would cause me pause, if I were you, is that all the reports bring up the Reddit “group of detectives” who broke the case. And those are the same people who CONSTANTLY try to destroy anyone in Anthony’s orbit. And I was in that subreddit from the start (reading, not posting) and 99% of what they post is wild speculation. 1% ended up being true and now Business Insider articles (and more) are saying they broke the case open!

I’m here to tell the real story, not bash people who didn’t know anything about the details going on.

So what’s next?

I think this has an opportunity to be a GREAT documentary. That only happens if you’re a part of it. And a part of it in more than just a talking head on camera. You and Liz are obviously immensely important pieces of this story. But, I think you’re equally important pieces in the re-telling of the story. You should be more than talking head interviews, you should be part of the production.

I think this story is tailor made for a streaming platform. I’ve been filling some of my video friends in along the way as I had hoped to work with you and every time something new happens we both say “this needs to be a film”.

So what next… I’d love to know what you think. I’d also love to know if you think something like this is a waste of time with the other projects that have reached out to you. As someone who subscribed day one, followed the journey, tried to connect with TPG as an editor, was confused by the blackout, continued following along after the split, and who knows storytelling, I don’t think there’s a better person to tell this story.
