Fox Valley Church
Light for the Future
The request and our approach.
Thanks so much for reaching out and trusting us to (hopefully) be a part of your project. I grew up in a Christian Reformed church and school, and our church is a big part of our lives every day now. I know the fundraising challenges a church can face and I’d love to help you get the word out, and donations in, for Light for the Future. Below you’ll find a bunch of information and I’m happy to clarify any of it.
In general, the first part of the project is you putting together your ideal outcome for each video, in script form. It’s less important for the keystone video, but very important for the interviews. What it means is you write a paragraph or two about what you’d want each video to be and send that to us. We’ll take that “ideal story” and craft questions that will lead the interviewee down that path. That allows you to get the responses you need to make an effective video, but gives the interviewee the freedom to be authentic and the ease of mind to not be stressed about being on camera. Next up, we’ll film the videos…
Keystone Video (4-6 minutes)
This video will be similar in editing style to the video you shared… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdyWQXf5BFM But will be in one “static” shot, not a walking / tracking shot. We’ll use the footage we shoot, motion graphics, provided 3D, and more to create a 4-6 minute video telling the history of Fox Valley Church, the current state of things, and where it will go in the future with the congregation’s support. It will be uplifting and inspiring while sharing the needs.
Interview Videos (2-3 minutes)
We’ll do 4 half day interview setups, putting 2 together per day to save you on costs. We’ll bring our gear, you bring the interviewees and we’ll capture some authentic stories. One of our strengths is what we call “corporate documentary”. Being able to craft authentic stories, told through the words of real people, but that deliver the message you need. We help craft the questions that lead to the answers, but in doing so leave space for the interviewees to be themselves and explore the answers in their own words. Those little moments of exploration are usually where the best pieces come from, and we help facilitate that with every interview we do. After they’re filmed, we’ll assemble them into 2-3 minute videos that can be shared as you need them to be.

A little about us
It’s important to learn a little bit about who you’re working with before a project starts. We’re not fresh out of college and decided to start doing our own thing. Our founder & Creative Director, Cal Engel has over 20 years experience in the industry. Spanning from traditional marketing agencies to innovation agencies to brands to digital out of home, even working with literally the biggest music acts in the world. Ten years ago he decided to form AV Collective as a way to provide that same high quality work to clients, but without them having to pay the overhead of a traditional agency. Why’s that important for you? Every project is going to have challenges. It’s about the knowledge and expertise of the people you work with, that allows them to overcome those challenges and deliver projects beyond your expectations.
Here’s what a few of our clients have said about us…
“Working with Cal at AV Collective has been a feather in my professional cap. We have created work that changed the way people thought of my company, turning our executives and customers into rock stars. Cal is highly creative; he can put together innovative ideas and concepts independently. Cal is also highly collaborative, so you can bring your ideas (no matter how crazy) with you and he can help bring them to life.”
“Words do not describe how amazing Cal and the team have been to work with. They have helped our agency out on a lot of last minute projects, which have included editing, VO, music and design. The attention to detail and thoughtfulness for each project they have been engaged on has been incredibly refreshing. They take true pride and ownership in each project.”
“From beginning to end, just a world-class experience. I do know that those words get used a lot, world-class, to the point where they don’t mean much but, for me, as someone who has been on countless photo, commercial, and video shoots, knowing every single detail is the difference between a project that moves through ideation to completion smoothly and an experience that is less than ideal for all involved. Working with Cal has been nothing short of spectacular.”
What will it cost?
So we’ve spent a lot of time going over what we’d recommend doing, so here’s what the scripting, shoot, and 5 edited videos would cost. We typically do not offer discounts, but we do try to do that for Churches and Non Profits, so the costs reflect a 25% discount. Here’s the top line costs…
