HAVI - McDonald’s Partnership Video
Let us help you tell your collaboration story.
HAVI and McDonald’s have one of the most interesting, collaborative relationships of any company. And the CPFR story is one that should be celebrated and shared. We’ll help you do that through interviews, b-roll, and provided footage. We’ll help you craft your story so it has the most impact, but also is free to be told in the interviewee’s own words. HAVI will both clearly (and subtly) be portrayed as the leader of the project but we’ll weave in the collaboration that only comes from a deep understanding of client and industry needs.
For this proposal we put together, we went with the 2 days of on location filming of interviews, 1 day of virtual interview filming through zoom, and one day of b-roll (if needed) at McDonald’s. We’ll then take that footage, and any additional provided photos or video, and edit together a 3-5 minute video celebrating the successes of this project.
Below you’ll find examples of previous work for HAVI and other clients, next steps and project flow, as well as the estimated costs. Please reach out if you have any questions, we’d love to work together with you on this.
My history with HAVI, tms, and McDonald’s
Before we hop into examples, it would be good to share our history with TMS. I “grew up” in The System. My whole childhood, my father ran the creative team at Simon Marketing designing happy meal toys. I heard a lot about, what was then, MB Sales. When I graduated, I worked at Simon Marketing for a few years before joining The Marketing Store in their digital studio, building internal video and photo capabilities. After eight or nine years, I left tms to pursue a dream job traveling the world photographing a band, but since my last time, full time, at tms or HAVI I’ve continued to work on video projects. Last month I was filming toys for HappyMeal.com, every year I do the HAVI Circle of Excellence videos, and throughout the year projects come up that I help out on. I’m very familiar with all the companies involved in a project like this.

The Process
-
The discovery phase is where we’re at right now. We figure out what the video will be like, what it will take to execute it, and how we’ll approach the project. If you think this is the right path and the budget works for you, let us know and we get the project started. If you want to tweak anything or see how to save on some costs, we can help with that too. Just let us know.
-
During Pre-Production you’ll identify the people that you want to interview, who’s in person (and where), who’s virtual, etc. You will also write a script or outline for what you would ideally like the viewer to come away with. We will take that script and tweak it and then create questions that will lead the interviewee to say what we want them to say, but to do it in their own words.
-
This is the actual filming. Cal and an assistant will arrive, set up cameras, lights and audio, make sure everything looks great and get to filming. We ask that someone from your team be there to ask the interviewee questions, and confirm that we’re getting what we need. We find real people respond better to people they know and we get better answers, versus a stranger.
-
This is the editing stage. We will take a week or two (per the agreed upon timeline) to put together a “first look” at the video. We share this via online review software Frame.io which allows your team to add any comments or feedback and we can track it all in one place as a single source of truth, versus trying to find emails and PDFs. Typically projects include 3-5 rounds of revisions if needed. After you put your feedback in, we need a day or two to make the changes and then we send a revision. We do that as needed until the project is perfect.
-
Once post production is done, that’s it, it’s a wrap! We’ll send a high res version for you to back up to your servers, as well as a smaller file sized MP4 for you to upload to your video sharing software of choice. If you need something specific, we can transcode to any file format out there.
Estimated costs
We provide very detailed estimates that line item every aspect of the project. We believe in transparency and that our clients should know what they’re paying for. With this project we did our best to estimate things out. There are a few variables that can move the cost of the project up or down… We included 2 on location shoot days, 1 virtual shoot day, and 1 on location b-roll shoot day. If you were to have fewer on location days, you’d save on the project. For example going from 3 on location days to 2, saves approximately $3,750. The other thing we assumed is that for b-roll at McDonald’s, someone’s family will be the talent. If we needed to hire talent, we can certainly do that, typically you’d be looking at an additional cost of around $3,000 plus usage every year.
Here’s how the numbers are looking…
Pre Production - $1,500
Production (3 on location days, 1 virtual) - $13,000
Post Production - $3,500
Misc Project Costs - $530
Total - $18,530
Below you’ll find the detailed estimate. If you have a budget number you’re trying to work with, or you want to add or take anything away, please reach out and let me know.
I know that’s a lot to go through
There’s a lot of information in here, but as we said above, we like to be transparent so you know what you’re getting, what it costs, and we can all balance expectations. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to clarify anything I mentioned in here or expand upon it. Sometimes clients see the proposals and want to add or take away from projects, we can adjust estimates as needed.
