Headshots and Portraits

We’ll help you put your best foot forward.

Everyone needs a photo of themselves. Whether it’s for Linkedin, Instagram, your website, or an internal site, it’s important to look your best and have a great photo done. That’s where we can help. Most of the photography and video we create is with real people, not paid actors. We know how uncomfortable people can get when they’re having their photos taken and we know how to liven the mood and keep everyone comfortable. That allows us to get the best image and the talent leaves feeling great about the experience.

The two types of “headshots”.

Environmental Portraits

Like the name sounds… these are portraits taken in an environment. Typically someone’s office or home, these are more portraits than traditional headshots. By that we mean that they have a little feel of what the person or a company is like. They’re photographed in a location and that helps tell their story a little bit. These are usually a little more engaging to the viewer of the photos. We recommend environmental portraits for things like website features, magazine or newspaper publications where you need a story, social media, etc. Because each image tells a unique story, they tend to be more attention grabbing but they do take more time to do which is important to think about as you plan how many people need photographs.

Traditional Headshots

You’ve seen lots of traditional headshots, they’re photos taken on a backdrop where everyone in a company gets their photos done and they have a consistent look and feel. These are a little more corporate and consistent in look. We recommend traditional headshots in a few situations… when you have a lot of people who need photos done, traditional headshots allow you to take more photos in a shorter amount of time. They’re also a great option when you want a consistent look and feel because they’re all going on one webpage together.

How much does it cost?

When we work with a client, we do custom estimates as every project is a little different. So if you’re ready to start a project like this, be sure to send an email and we can get the ball rolling. In general, a day of environmental portraits will cost around $3,500 for a photographer, assistant, and photo editing / light retouching. And a day of headshots will cost around $2,500 for a photographer and photo editing / light retouching. Depending on your needs, we can add on things like additional photographers if you’re wanting to get hundreds of headshots done, or hair and makeup artists (about $600/day) to make sure everyone feels their best. Each project is unique, so reach out and we can get you a very detailed proposal for the project you want to do.
