Fundraising Video

This video is all about the connection. We want something that will pull at the heart strings and bring in donors who haven't donated in the past. The best way to do that is with an emotional connection with students, and then the principal (or someone similar) talking about the specifics of what the school needs. Not in a salesy way, but in a see your dollars at work kind of way.

So I imagine the video opens with some slow motion footage of classrooms and kids learning. There's lots of smiling and kids engaging with what's going on. Then a child's voice starts and they talk about what makes OLPH different than other schools. We'll help you craft this story, but it would be more than just the kids saying words like "teacher, gym class, singing" it'd be things like "My teachers make me feel like I'm more than just another kid in the classroom, they support me and encourage me and make me feel like they care about who I am as a person as well as a student." To accomplish this, we'd be looking for you to provide a paragraph or two that would be what you ideally want the kids to say. Then we'd take that and craft questions they'd answer.

After the kids tug at the heart strings and share why the school matters, we'd want an administrator to talk about what the donations do. Specifically we'd work together and craft a script that talks about the assumptions that people make, which leads them not to donate. It wouldn't be overtly "the school and church have separate budgets so we need your money" it'd be conversational "We touch the lives of 800 kids each year at OLPH, and while the Archdiocese and church provide us support through prayer and mentorship, we rely on our fundraising efforts each year to provide the well rounded education that you send your kids to OLPH to receive. Every little bit matters, and I really mean that. Even a donation of $100 means that we can put an extra 10 books in the library [or something like that]." Obviously it wouldn't need to be those specific words, but it'd be a conversational way to share the pain points you encounter as you fundraise and flip it around so that the viewer can connect and want to donate.

To execute on this, we'd film b-roll for a half day in classrooms. Then we'd want to take a half day to film the students talking and administrator. Preferably after hours so that we could film in a hallway or somewhere inside that would help build the connection with the school. I'd recommend 5-7 students minimum.

About OLPH Video

One of the hardest decision parents can make is about what school they should send their kids to. Now, more than ever, there's choices and more choices. And now, more than ever, parents wonder if they're doing the right things for their kids future. This video should be parents telling the story about why they chose OLPH and how they feel after making that decision. We'd suggest trying to find parents who's children have just completed one year of school and are going into their second year. Those parents will have fresh perspective on the decision making process and how they feel after a year of that decision. We'd also recommend talking to parents who's kids are going into their last year at the school. They'll be able to reflect on the entire journey and how they feel their, and their children's, lives have changed as a result of being part of the OLPH family.

Some of they key themes we'd recommend touching on would be the OLPH community and how you get more than just an education there. How the size of the school means students can get some advantages they might not get at other schools, but while still in a close nit group. How the decision on where to send their kids was difficult, but they now feel like they made the right choice.

This video is intended to help sway someone who's not sure if they want to come by for a visit. It's important to remember that. The person who already knows about the school and loves it, will enjoy the video. But the person who's on the fence about what to do will watch it and feel like they connect with the other parents who were trying to make the same decision and then they'll see how sending their kids to OLPH was a success for those parents.

For this video, we'd need a day of filming interviews. Probably on a Saturday or Sunday (or day off school) so we could set up in one or two different locations. We'd recommend you identify 10 or so people that could talk about the school. This will give us some variety and the viewer won't feel like one person is just preaching to them, they'll feel like they've seen a real cross section of the school.

A little about us.

It’s important to learn a little bit about who you’re working with before a project starts. We’re not fresh out of college and decided to start doing our own thing. Our founder & Creative Director, Cal Engel has over 20 years experience in the industry. Spanning from traditional marketing agencies to innovation agencies to brands to digital out of home, even working with literally the biggest music acts in the world. Ten years ago he decided to form AV Collective as a way to provide that same high quality work to clients, but without them having to pay the overhead of a traditional agency. Why’s that important for you? Every project is going to have challenges. It’s about the knowledge and expertise of the people you work with, that allows them to overcome those challenges and deliver projects beyond your expectations.

Our estimate for your project.

Each of these videos is very similar in what it will take to execute, a half day of filming b-roll and a day of filming interviews. Then editing and finalizing. Below is what the estimate for each video would look like. So they’d be $4,800 each. As you go through our proposal, if you want to change something or think there’s a different direction to take, please let me know and we can update the estimate.
