Veralto Interviews
Thanks for filming.
Hello! Thanks so much for filming with some of the local teams in your area. It will be great to hear from real people and we’re happy to have you on board. To make sure everyone has the same base to jump off from, there’s a lot of general specs and pointers below. You may know some or all of it, but just in case someone had a question, I wanted to cover all bases. We’ll be cutting footage together from all over the world so the more people are on the same page, the better the end product will be. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at cal@avcollective.com
One of the most important parts of this project is that the employees we talk to feel like they had a great experience throughout this process. Not everyone likes being on camera and we want them to come out of this process feeling like they contributed to the project by being a part of it.
The general specs.
Please film everything 4k, if you can’t do 4k please email me at Cal@AVCollective.com
Please film interviews 23.976 or 24 fps.
LOG Color profiles are preferred to baked in REC709
Please shoot 10 bit 4:2:2 vs 8 bit or 4:2:0 where possible and shoot the highest quality codec your camera has.
When framing, please film a little wider than you typically would because we will finish the edit at 2.7k and do some recomposition with the 4k footage to edit everything together.
For audio, we MUCH prefer a quality boomed setup to a lav mic. If you must do lav, please hide it.
As you know, bad audio means a video nobody will watch. Please prioritize audio.
The lighting.
We’re looking for nice soft lighting. A big soft key, some fill, and a hair light as well as some lighting on the background.
Please avoid any blown out highlights on people.
Please avoid harsh lighting.
Add in background lighting where applicable to help accentuate the location.
The location.
We prefer this be filmed in a location within the office to help with authenticity.
Keep in mind footage with less than ideal video, but footage great audio is much more watchable than the best location with loud background noise.
If you don’t can’t use a location within the office, please film on a well lit green screen and take a photo plate (no people, cool location) we can drop in in post.
The interviewer should be just to the left or the right of the camera, we don’t want the interviewees eye line to be way off to the side.
Please record 30 seconds of room tone on a separate track.
DO NOT show any Danaher logos (or any logos for that matter), we cannot use content with logos
The interview.
People can start and stop as much as they need to and we will edit it together.
Please have the interviewees respond in English unless they absolutely can’t.
Please have the people repeat the question in their answer.
They should not literally repeat it, but repeat part of it to answer.
For example if the question is… “What is the weather like today?” We want someone to say “The weather today is warm and sunny.” We do not want “Warm and sunny” and we do not want “The weather today? Warm and sunny,”
We want the best answers, so don’t feel like you have to cut them off or stop them. if they start talking about something unrelated or going on a long tangent, let them go there, and then ask a follow up or ask them to pair that down to one or two sentences. The best moments come from things we didn’t plan for.
For eye line, we want them looking at the interviewer.
Overall, we want each interviewee to walk away from this experience feeling like they contributed and did a great job. Please make them as comfortable as you possibly can.
Some interview work to show what we’re looking for.

Once your shoot is over, we need to get the footage from you. Your contact from Veralto should have sent you a dropbox link to upload to, please post the footage there and send an email when it is all uploaded. Please do not delete the recording media until we’ve confirmed receipt of the footage.
If you have to physically mail something, that works too. Just send me an email with the tracking number (cal@avcollective.com) and you can mail it to… AV Collective Inc, 20 Danada Sq W #293, Wheaton, IL 60189 USA.
Please keep the files locally for 60 days in case there’s any issues with the hard drives getting lost or something.
